Hole-In-The-Wall Golf Club

Naples, Florida

Lead Assistant Golf Professional October 2015-September 2018

The Hole-In-The-Wall Golf Club was established in 1957 for members who appreciated the traditions of the game of golf and enjoyed each other’s company.  This deep seated tradition continues today.  The name, Hole-In-The-Wall, was derived because the property was the northern section of the Hole In The Wall Ranch. At the end of the last century, before the Tamiami Trail was even thought about, there were two separate areas of settlements in Naples.  One was east of the Gulf Coast strip from Gordon Pass and the other was east of Naples Bay and Cypress Swamp. One of the most attractive aspects of the Hole-in-the-Wall Golf Club is the natural environment that surrounds the golf course and the absence of residential development so common to many other clubs in the Naples area. This property is truly a unique setting for the game of golf where members and their guests enjoy the sights and sounds of South Florida wildlife and nature.  With almost fifty acres of wetland preserves dedicated to conservation easement, the club's property is assured in perpetuity to be home to some of the most fascinating wildlife, sub-tropical flora and fauna found in nature.   The Club is a fully certified member of the Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary System having gained this status in the 1990’s.  The Club’s Wildlife Fund supports this important feature.

However, it was the 1930 U.S. Open that was the club's defining moment where Bobby Jones embarked on an incredible journey in which Interlachen played a starring role. After having just won the first two legs of the Grand Slam in England, Jones' U.S. Open victory at Interlachen on July 12 gave Jones the third leg of the Grand Slam. Jones would achieve the Grand Slam two months later by winning the 4th leg of the Grand Slam at Merion Golf Club and record one of golf's greatest international prominence and its well deserved place in golf history.

RedStick Golf Club

Vero Beach, Florida

Assistant Golf Professional October 2012-April 2015

RedStick Golf Club began during the winter of 1997 when several Vero Beach golf enthusiasts came up with the idea for an invitational golf club, rolled up their sleeves and created a member’s club. The Club was established as a traditional private golf club for the enjoyment of 250 members and their escorted guests. RedStick Golf Club opened on November 3, 2000. It was not, nor was ever, intended to be a “for profit” venture by its founders. The name RedStick is derived from a band of Creek warriors who were known to be fierce fighters that carried red sticks into battle during the Florida-Indian wars of the 19th Century; their main opponent being Andrew Jackson. They were members of the Creek Nation and trading partners of the Seminoles. RedStick Golf Club is a walking course with caddies. The par 72 layout, designed by renowned architect Rees Jones, is 7,157 yards in length from the tips. RedStick Golf Club is open mid-October to mid-May, the club has remained true to its original mission of existing purely for the love of golf, and has been able to invite additional members beyond the original limit.

Hudson National Golf Club

Croton-On-Hudson, New York

Assistant Golf Professional May 2011- October 2012

As the second highest elevation point in Westchester County, Fazio had a spectacular canvas to work with. The land offered the Fazio team the opportunity to create a new club that would have the potential to take its place alongside the Metropolitan area’s vaunted venues. After blasting 130,000 cubic yards of rock, the 260-acre site was prepared for the routing of golf holes. The golf course, which opened in June of 1996, is a throwback to golf’s Golden Era, considering the history of the property. The Kitchawank Indians once occupied the land comprising Hudson National in 1609 when Henry Hudson first sailed the river destined to bear his name. During the Revolutionary War, General George Washington and his troops also took advantage of the site’s commanding views to monitor the British Fleet making its way up the Hudson from New York City. Fazio utilized the ruins of a lost clubhouse as a signature feature of the property, routing the fourth hole right alongside them as a “historical reminder” of a bygone era. The 9-hole Hessian Hills clubhouse fell victim to a “successful” fire in the 1930s, following the stock market crash and the onset of The Depression. The Clubhouse, an English stone manor house built in 1911, is a four-story structure that was home to the Larkin family. Following its renovation, the clubhouse grew to 22,500 square feet and is situated at the widest point of the Hudson River with spellbinding 200-degree views from the east side. An atmosphere of tradition and rustic elegance is evident throughout. Members and guests are provided with a private refuge from their busy professional lives, and are offered the finest in food and service. Both amateurs and professionals would agree: Hudson National Golf Club is one of the best golf courses in New York State.

Sonoma Ranch Golf Course

Las Cruces, New Mexico

PGA Intern March 2010 - April 2011

The three nine-hole tracks cater differently to golfers. Beginners enjoy Thistle as it gives them confidence by offering up low scores, despite the fact that par has been adjusted! Pine Cone is marketed to players who prefer playing “older” courses. And Foxglove, with its narrow fairways, provides a test to the more avid golfer.

The walk-ability of the golf course is key; there are no long stretches between holes. And the trees are important features, too; they literally define each hole. Golfers can’t hit over ‘em, but they can hit around ‘em!

And if it’s peace and quiet a golfer desires, The Resort at the Mountain is the ideal destination. Here players hear no airplane noise, no automobile traffic, and need withstand no other unnatural distractions. The joint focus is pure golf and nature.

Rainier Golf & Country Club

Seattle, Washington

PGA Intern Summer 2007

Rainier was officially founded on March 11, 1919. At a meeting in February, 1919 Charles A. Reynolds, a real estate dealer, who lived on the Des Moines Road, came up with a site—120 “remarkably fertile” acres—above the Duwamish Valley in an area known as “The Highline” one mile south of Seattle’s city limits. Work on construction of the first nine began almost immediately on what is presently our second nine and first play by members began in the summer of 1920. However, the formal opening ceremonies were not held until September 25th of that year. On May 5, 1922 47 members were present at a meeting at the Butler Hotel and authorized construction of a clubhouse at a cost not to exceed $18,000. This first clubhouse was built at an actual cost of $12,591 and was formally opened on New Year’s Day, 1923. It consisted of an office, a dining room (where the ballroom is now) and a locker room. With work progressing on the second nine holes and the clubhouse under way, more members were needed to help defray the bills, so on July 10th, 1922 it was voted to increase the membership to 400
